Two REEC Lab researchers, Dr. Suwimon Wicharuck and Dr. Nilubon Luangchosiri, have been awarded the Murata Science Foundation Research 2025 grants for their innovative projects in smart irrigation and sustainable agricultural business models. Both of the project received a research grant of 800,000 JPY.
Dr. Suwimon Wicharuck received a grant for her project titled:
“Smart Irrigation Management Method for Dwarf Napier Grass Growing Under Solar Panel Using Spectra Tools (SPAD 502 Chlorophyll Meter and Spectrometer) and Mobile Camera.”
Dr. Nilubon Luangchosiri was also granted support for her research project titled:
“Social and Economic Impacts of a Novel Agricultural Business Model Implemented in a Drought-Prone Region.”
The awarding ceremony took place on Wednesday, October 1, 2025, at the E-Sie Hub Building, Faculty of Engineering, Chiang Mai University.
In addition to the awardees, other REEC Lab members — Dr. Uma Shankar Verassamy and Asst. Prof. Dr. Nappassawan Wongmongkol — also presented their research at the event.
This recognition highlights the strong research potential of the REEC Lab and is expected to further inspire innovation, collaboration, and academic excellence within Chiang Mai University.
