This review explores the multifaceted electrochemical applications of MXenes, a promising class of 2D transition metal carbides and nitrides, with a focus on energy storage (supercapacitors and batteries), energy conversion (hydrogen and oxygen evolution reactions), and electrochemical sensors. The article presents a comprehensive examination of alternative MXene synthesis techniques beyond conventional HF etching, including in situ HF etching, molten salt methods, electrochemical etching, and other advanced approaches.
