In an effort to enhance food safety and promote sustainable agricultural practices, a groundbreaking technology for detecting pesticide residues in vegetables and fruits using mobile phone cameras has been developed. This innovative approach offers a cost-effective and accessible method for consumers and farmers to monitor food safety with ease. The research team behind this advancement recently received recognition from the Thailand Pesticide Alert Network (Thai-PAN). Thai-PAN issued a circular inviting submissions for their prestigious project, and the team’s work was selected for presentation at a major conferences event.

The research was showcased at The 2025 Annual Conference on Pesticide Hazard Warnings: Driving the development towards a safe agriculture and food safety system, and sponsored by the Thailand Pesticide Alert Network (Thai-PAN). This conference was held on January 29, 2025. The event will bring together experts, researchers, and policymakers to discuss innovative solutions for minimizing pesticide hazards and ensuring food safety in Thailand and beyond. The development of this mobile-based detection system represents a significant step towards improving consumer safety by providing a quick and reliable method to identify harmful residues. This advancement aligns with global efforts to enhance agricultural sustainability while empowering individuals with technology-driven solutions for food monitoring.
