The Department of Mechanical Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, Chiang Mai University, through the Renewable Energy and Environment Conservation Laboratory (REEC Lab), recently welcomed delegates from Kaohsiung Medical University, Taiwan. The delegation was led by Prof. Dr. Wei-Yu Lin, Chair of the Department of Medicinal and Applied Chemistry, and Prof. Dr. Vinoth Kumar Ponnusamy, from Department of Medicinal and Applied Chemistry and Director of International Affairs and Research.
The visit provided an excellent opportunity for both institutions to explore potential avenues for academic and research collaboration. During the laboratory tour, the delegates visited REEC Lab and exchanged knowledge on advanced materials, energy storage technologies, nanomaterials, and sustainable solutions for clean energy and environmental applications. Particular attention was given to research activities related to biomass-derived carbon materials, electrode development for energy storage devices, and supercapacitor technologies, which represent key research strengths of Chiang Mai University.
Discussions also focused on future collaborative initiatives, including joint research projects between Thailand and Taiwan, student and researcher exchange programs, co-supervision of graduate students, academic seminars and special lectures, and joint publications in internationally recognized journals. These activities are expected to enhance research excellence, foster innovation, and strengthen international academic networks between the two institutions.
This visit marks an important step toward establishing a long-term partnership between Chiang Mai University and Kaohsiung Medical University. Both parties expressed their commitment to advancing collaborative research, promoting academic exchange, and developing opportunities for students and researchers, thereby contributing to global scientific advancement and sustainable development.
